About Us

Hello!

Portrait of Arno

In 1984, I built WinMath for the Mac, one of the first graphing calculators for modern computers.

A few years later, I had the privilege of helping bring the Mac user interface to life at Apple. Later, at Adobe, I helped build tools for creative professionals and move the web platform forward.

Today, through Farfield Studio, I’m returning to where it all began: building better tools for scientific computing.

That includes mathfield, a web component for editing beautifully typeset math equations, and the Compute Engine, a JavaScript library for symbolic computing and numeric evaluation.

Both projects are available under an open source license.

I can’t wait to see what you build with them.
